I’m Luke (He/Him), a passionate worker with keen aspirations to develop and progress. Always willing to learn new skills, and seamlessly able to work with others to achieve an overall goal or target with precision. I am motivated by helping those that need it. In the same way I may need to be helped myself, to resolve any problems that can arise, then to also thrive as an individual. – This was my corporate persona.
It worked well in my previous job as it led myself and some of my colleagues to introduce the UK Financial institutions first ever non-verbal communication tool, but after that I hit a roadblock. I wasn’t able to get any further without becoming a people leader or getting a degree. At the time I wanted to become a product owner, allowing me to get my foot in the door with the company’s senior leadership team but alas it wasn’t meant to be. My passion lead with all thing’s accessibility and neurodiversity, with my personal belief being that I can achieve anything I set my mind too, if respect my own boundaries, capabilities and disabilities.
So, with that being said, I’m a diagnosed Autistic Adult with ADHD, suspected Bipolar as well as Anxiety & Depression. I won’t put it lightly, things are tough, but I always fall back on these words – it doesn’t get any easier, you just get stronger. – and when it comes to my work I live by this – all things are hard, before they are easy. – these same words I have written on the wall at Northampton Mind.
I currently volunteer for Enfold, which is a local autism charity, I engage with the ADHD Project (also based at N’town Mind) and finally, I take part in a fortnightly wellness walk so you might have unknowingly seen me on social media before! I’ve already been posted by UON, picking up drag queens, wearing my Scream mask and singing Paramore songs, really… really… badly.
