My experience as a Christian student at UON
Being a Christian student at the University of Northampton has honestly been an amazing experience. The university offers a supportive environment where I can freely practice and grow in my faith, and the Christian Union (CU) has played a huge role in that journey.
Weekly Prayer and Bible Study Sessions
One of the main ways the Christian Union supports us is through its weekly activities. We meet every Wednesday at the Multi-Faith Centre for prayer and fellowship, giving us a chance to reflect, meditate, and ask questions. We also meet every Thursday for Bible study, where we read the Bible, ask burning questions, share our understanding, and deepen our knowledge together.
These sessions have helped me build meaningful connections with people who share the same beliefs and values, and they’ve allowed me to grow in my faith.

Social Events
The CU isn’t just about learning the Bible; it also hosts social gatherings where we can relax, have fun, and build friendships beyond our weekly meetings. Every year, we collaborate with Christian Unions from other universities for a weekend retreat where we learn, worship, and share knowledge with a wider community of believers.
Christian Union Library
Another useful resource they provide is the Christian library. Although it isn’t a physical library, it’s a collection of books we can borrow during CU sessions. It’s a simple and helpful way to access Christian literature at no cost.
Celebrating Festive Seasons
Throughout the year, the CU also organises special events during festive periods such as Easter and Christmas, creating welcoming spaces to celebrate our faith even while we’re far from home, and allowing us to feel the season on a much deeper level. Being part of the Christian Union has made the university feel like a home away from home for me, and it’s comforting to know that my faith is not only respected but actively supported here at Northampton.
