As a proactive student at the University of Northampton, studying a degree in Law, I seek opportunities that would provide me with practical experience, where I could apply my theoretical knowledge and therefore, enhance my CV!
Jessup Mooting Competition
This academic year I showed initiative by asking to participate in the most prestigious international mooting competition (“Jessup Mooting Competition 2026”), which is such a chance to deal with a complex international law matter. It involves submitting written memorials, and presenting your arguments before highly qualified lawyers, therefore immersing yourself into realistic simulations of a court hearing at the International Court of Justice.
The importance of the event
Before setting up a team that would represent the University of Northampton in 2026 and signing up, I did seek support from the Law Society. The fundamental issue that was raised before signing up was the participation fee, estimated to be around £600.
As soon as I reached the head of the Law Society via one of my lecturers, I explained the importance of this opportunity for the students, and I got approval in the next couple of days.
