How we are managed
The University’s organisational structure is as follows:
Becky Bradshaw, Interim Vice Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer, line manages:
- Janet Baines, Director of Finance: janet.baines@northampton.ac.uk. Operational responsibility for the management of the University’s finances.
- Gavin Barber, Interim Chief Operating Officer: gavin.barber@northampton.ac.uk.
- Karen Jones, Interim Deputy Vice Chancellor: karen.jones@northampton.ac.uk.
- Andrew Kennedy, Director of Human Resources: andrew.kennedy@northampton.ac.uk. Operational responsibility for human resources, staff development and payroll.
- Temi Orija, Manager, Office of the Vice Chancellor: temi.orija@northampton.ac.uk. Operational responsibility for the Office of the Vice Chancellor and support for University leaders.
- Dr Cathy Smith, Dean of Research and Knowledge Exchange: cathy.smith@northampton.ac.uk. Operational responsibility for the oversight of the University’s research and enterprise (including the University’s preparations for national research assessment exercises, the Research Institute and research and enterprise funding), the Graduate School and apprenticeships.

Karen Jones, Interim Deputy Vice Chancellor line manages:
- Dr Jacob Saranga, Dean of Faculty of Health, Sport and Behavioural Sciences: jacob.saranga@northampton.ac.uk. Responsible for the leadership of the Faculty of Health, Sport and Behavioural Sciences
Gavin Barber, Interim Chief Operating Officer line manages:
- Alex Hardwick, Interim Academic Registrar: alexandra.hardwick@northampton.ac.uk. Operational responsibility for student administration and the management of the quality of courses
- Miriam Lakin, Associate Director – Governance, Compliance and Risk: miriam.lakin@northampton.ac.uk. Responsibility for University governance, legal services, health and safety, business continuity, data protection and freedom of information (jointly line managed with the Chair of the Board of Governors)
- Tracey Russell, Director of Estates and Campus Services: tracey.russell@northampton.ac.uk. Operational responsibility for estates and campus services, including timetabling and University-owned accommodation and the lead for institutional Environmental Sustainability
- Alex Vujcich, Director of Digital, Data and Transformation alex.vujcich@northampton.ac.uk. Operational responsibility for information and technology services, planning and change and transformation.
Alice Wilby, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education and Student Experience) line manages:
- Martin Perfect, Director of Student Futures: martin.perfect@northampton.ac.uk. Responsible for the University’s placements, careers and employability service, alumni relations and the University’s Unitemps branch.
- Chris Powis, Director of Library, Learning and Student Services: chris.powis@northampton.ac.uk. Responsible for the University’s library, student and staff academic skills development and the University’s virtual learning environment, NILE and the University’s Student Services functions
- James Tomkinson, Director of Marketing, External Affairs and Student Recruitment: james.tomkinson@northampton.ac.uk. Operational responsibility for marketing, communications and external affairs, student recruitment and global engagement strategy and operations.
The Interim Vice Chancellor, the Interim Deputy Vice Chancellor and Interim Chief Operating Officer, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education and Student Experience), Deans and Directors form the University Leadership Team which meets weekly and considers matters relating to the strategic oversight of the University.

The University is committed to maintaining the highest standards in the conduct of its business. This requires everyone associated with the University to conduct themselves with integrity, impartiality, honesty and professionalism at all times, and to avoid any conflict arising between their official University duties and their private interests.
Annually, members of the Board, external committee members, senior post holders and senior managers provide the University with information about their interests and activities outside the University.
This information is held by the Associate Director – Governance, Compliance and Risk and reviewed annually by the Audit and Risk Committee.
