The University of Northampton is delighted to announce that it has renewed the successful partnership with Santander Universities UK.

Through the partnership with Santander Universities, students at the University can access support for scholarships, internships, funding for entrepreneurial activities and support for academic travel and research. The partnership also supports Formula Student racing team, who are working to design, build and race an eco-racing car.

Nathan Bostock, CEO of Santander UK, visited campus for a signing ceremony on 11 May with the University’s Vice Chancellor Professor Nick Petford. During this visit, he met with the students and staff who have benefited from the Santander support. During the ceremony, Nathan Bostock confirmed additional funding for the University to bring the total to over £1m.

Nathan Bostock said: “Santander is committed to supporting higher education as well as local communities across the UK. The partnership with the University of Northampton is a great example of how two very different institutions cans work together. I have particularly enjoyed meeting Santander scholars and beneficiaries and seeing first-hand the real impact of our joint programmes.”

Professor Nick Petford commented: “We have been working with Santander since 2008 and are gearing up to celebrate a decade of working together. Over the years, we have cemented a very productive and successful relationship; a relationship which offers our students excellent opportunities, not just in their academic fields of study, but their passions too.”

Student Adrian Anderson, who’s received support to take his business idea to the next level said: “The Santander support has been invaluable, I’ve been lucky enough to access business advice through the University’s Enterprise Club, who work really closely with the Santander branch on campus to develop my business model. Let’s hope you’ll be seeing my Jerk Marinade in shops across Northampton soon.”
