Prior to joining Northampton, Simon spent many years specialising in educational marketing, working for a variety of Universities on marketing projects, both in the UK and overseas. As a Lecturer he has held posts at different Universities teaching marketing and business-related topics. Possessing a recognised-teaching qualification and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Simon has a keen interest in consumer marketing, consumer psychology, and retail marketing. A recipient of the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Diploma he has has a particular focus on consumer and buyer behaviour, packaging psychology and sustainability initiatives, specifically within the Drinks Industry. His current teaching focus is on consumer behaviour, consumer marketing and sustainability.
Previously, Simon was Course Leader for the undergraduate BSc (Hons) Marketing degree programme. As Course Leader (2018-25) he led a teaching team that received national recognition for results in the National Student Survey (NSS) for student satisfaction (led course team that achieved 100% NSS in 2018, 2020, 2022 and achieved NSS Top 10 in England for Marketing during consecutive years in 2024 and 2025). Simon is currently Deputy Head of School, in addition to having served as an elected member of the University Senate (2022-25).
