Karen is a Senior Lecturer on the BA Health and Social Care Practice as well as a Mental Health First Aid Trainer. She has over twenty years of teaching experience. Karen is a qualified and practising Counsellor and has several years of experience of working in the field of homelessness.
Karen teaches across all the programmes, though her specialities are mental health, identity and housing.
Karen’s thesis researched the lived experiences of authenticity in male adolescents and parents of male adolescents. Karen’s interest stems from the rise in mental illness and suicide in male adolescents and research which suggests that being more authentic can reduce mental illness. Karen has also completed research into International Students’ experiences before and on arrival at the University of Northampton.
