Being part of the hair department for the End of Year Fashion Show was an amazing experience for me. It gave me the opportunity to work in a professional environment, develop my skills and experience what it is like to be part of a team working towards a fashion show.
One of the highlights of the experience was working with Mitchell and his team. It was a lovely experience, as the whole team was very helpful and supportive throughout the day. They had all the equipment and products we needed, which allowed us to work efficiently and focus on creating the hairstyles for the models.
Having the opportunity to get a second opinion on my work was also really helpful. It gave me reassurance that I was working in the right direction and helped me understand more about the type of style the team was trying to achieve. Being able to receive feedback and advice helped me look at my work from a different perspective and made me more confident in my styling decisions.
Another part of the experience that I really enjoyed was working with the models. This helped me step outside of my comfort zone and become more confident when communicating with people. I had to talk to the models about what I was doing, explain the products I was going to use on their hair and make sure they understood the styling process.
I realised how important it is to be able to explain what you are doing clearly and make the person you are working with feel comfortable. This is an important skill that I can take with me into my future career.
The day itself was also very intense but exciting. We had a morning tryout where we had the opportunity to practise and make sure everything was ready for the actual show. Then, in the afternoon, it was time for the real runway fashion show, with everyone there to watch. Seeing the whole event come together after all the preparation was an incredible feeling.
One of the proudest and most amazing parts of the whole experience was being able to see the final result on the runway. Seeing the hairstyles we had worked on being presented as part of the fashion show, displayed on a big screen and in front of so many people, brought me a huge amount of joy and pride. It made me realise how much work I had put into the day and how rewarding it was to finally see the finished result.
Watching the models walk down the runway and seeing the final hairstyles in front of a live audience made me feel proud of what I had managed to achieve.
Overall, my experience at the end of year fashion show was amazing and something I will remember. Working with Mitchell and his team allowed me to gain valuable experience, receive professional feedback and build my confidence. I also enjoyed working with the models and pushing myself outside of my comfort zone.
The experience helped me develop both my practical and personal skills, especially my communication and confidence. Most importantly, seeing the final result on the runway gave me a real sense of achievement and showed me how rewarding it can be to see your hard work become part of something bigger.
It was an intense, exciting and unforgettable day, and I am really grateful that I had the opportunity to be part of it.
