A huge thank you to the University of Portsmouth Dental School for such a warm welcome and wonderful hospitality. We had an incredible opportunity to visit your impressive facilities, meet members of your teaching team, and see first-hand how trainee dentists, dental hygienists, dental therapists and dental nurses work collaboratively within the clinical environment.
We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the dental simulation suites and even had the chance to test out the dental haptics. It’s not every day you get to practise scaling teeth and removing caries in such a realistic virtual environment! Thankfully, the phantom heads were very patient with us!
It was truly inspiring to watch students from the different dental professions learning and working together. The professionalism, teamwork and support shown throughout the clinics was a real credit to everyone involved and demonstrates the importance of collaborative practice in delivering outstanding patient care.
The visit also provided a fantastic opportunity to network with our External Examiner, Sue Hadley, alongside Jane Cuthbert, and to continue sharing ideas and best practice across our programmes. We rounded off the day with a lovely evening meal together, enjoying great company and some beautiful Portsmouth seafront views. We look forward to welcoming Sue to the University of Northampton next month for our clinical assessments and hope to return the same warm hospitality!
To top off an already brilliant week, we are absolutely delighted to celebrate another outstanding achievement for our Dental Nursing programme. We have been ranked Number 1 in England for Dental Nursing in the National Student Survey (NSS) for the second consecutive year! 🎉
Even more incredibly, we have achieved an outstanding 97% overall student satisfaction for the second year running, following last year’s phenomenal 99% result. These achievements reflect the dedication, passion and hard work of our entire Dental Nursing team, our clinical partners, and of course our amazing students.
A huge congratulations and thank you to everyone involved. We are incredibly proud of what we continue to achieve together!
