A round up of mentions in the media of the University, our graduates, staff and students.

A letter from the University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Anne-Marie Kilday, about the value of higher education to people, businesses and communities was published in the Guardian. The letter follows the launch last week of the Northamptonshire Growth, Innovation and Productivity (NGIP) Board, which was reported this week by the county’s Business Times.

The University is the first higher education institute to sign the Youth Power Charter, reinforcing its commitment to empowering young people to shape decisions, influence change and make a positive impact within their communities. The news is reported by the Midlands Gazette and Northampton Chronicle & Echo.

Milton Keynes businesses looking to invest in new equipment, software or greener ways of working can apply for grants of up to £25,000, announced during the University’s Fuelling Innovation Fortnight and reported by Business MK.

Figures show salmonella cases have increased in the region. Giving her expert view on this to ITV Anglia News (West) and sharing her food hygiene top tips with viewers was UON’s Dr Alex Woodacre (pictured. Watch again link has expired).

University Security team members took part in the Waterside Responder Course from the Royal National Lifeboat Institute, putting their new skills to use when they rescued a person from the water on the nearby River Nene. They were given certificates of best practice by the RNLI at Northamptonshire Fire Service HQ as reported by the Northamptonshire Telegraph.
