The University launched the new Northamptonshire Growth, Innovation and Productivity (NGIP) Board last week, with county-wide stakeholders, business leaders and MP Mike Reader (who chairs the Board), in attendance. NGIP will help strengthen the county’s ability to attract investment, improve productivity and support skills development by aligning activity across sectors and organisations. Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced he was stepping down, causing headlines and reaction over the UK and beyond. Dr Lucy Zhu added her thoughts to a BBC Online article about how esports students do more than just play games, pointing out the non-gaming aspects of UON’s degree, including business management and marketing, that will help develop the next generation of esports professionals.

Research from the University’s Institute for Public Safety, Crime and Justice aims to establish an evidence base to support and protect young people vulnerable to violence and gang exploitation, as reported by the Midlands Gazette.

The University is part of a major new project with more than £2.3 million of funding from Sport England to tackle inequalities in physical activity, health and wellbeing across some of the county’s most underserved neighbourhoods.
