Student Spotlight: Vee

Date 22 May 2026

Introducing Vee, currently in the spotlight as one of our Northampton students. We’re proud to highlight her experiences and accomplishments.

Vee

I’ve always been passionate about midwifery, which inspired my journey to university. Growing up as a South Asian woman, I wanted to show that midwifery is a career anyone can pursue, and that representation matters. The NHS, particularly in maternity care services, often lacks diversity, and I hope to be a voice that encourages others from underrepresented backgrounds to see themselves in this field.

Before studying midwifery, I explored a variety of experiences that shaped who I am. I studied Travel and Tourism and had the opportunity to study abroad in Italy, which I loved, and later worked with children. I also completed an Access to Nursing and Midwifery course, which prepared me to pursue my passion for midwifery. I trained in performing arts, enjoying drama, dance, and music, and took part in acting classes.

I had the opportunity to feature in TV extras roles, such as the CBBC series Jamie Johnson, and appear in Punjabi music videos, Asian bridal shoots, and clothing photoshoots. I also enjoy sports, dancing, going for walks, and visiting the cinema. These experiences have helped me become a confident, enthusiastic, creative, and driven individual, ready to make a positive impact in midwifery and in life in general!
