University Partnership

I was a Business Management student at Universitas Trisakti, where I studied Marketing Management for three years. My home university has been collaborating with the University of Northampton, which offers several business top-up programmes, including Global Business Management. I thought Global Business Management would add to my current business understanding, so I took the opportunity to pursue my education further. For me, I’m going to have a unique background, which combines my local culture and global experience after I finish my studies.

Suggestion From My Seniors

Some of my seniors who had studied and graduated from the University of Northampton, they encouraged me to study overseas. So, I decided to follow their footsteps and asked about their experiences. They said the learning environment was different, for example students have to actively engage in discussing real-case businesses. Also, they mentioned the way lecturers teach is completely focused on guiding students through each step, giving clear explanations and making it easy to understand the module.

Adapting to the New Academic Environment

I still remember when I started my first lecture, the lecturer expected everyone in the classroom to be active. The lecturer asked us some questions, and we answered with many different perspectives. My lecturer was really supportive, and she gave us feedback, so that we could learn from our mistakes. I could ask her about which topics I didn’t fully understand, and she would explain it again in a simpler way. Additionally, everyone in the class got involved in active discussions about specific issues were given,so we could exchange our thoughts and reach final conclusion.

Social Life

Of course, I have to admit it’s an entirely different culture. Fortunately, I can still manage by spending time together with my friends, both from Indonesia and other nationalities, so I don’t feel homesick and lonely. Mostly, we spend time together either to study or hang out. Previously we have travelled together to other cities in UK, for example we have been to London and Oxford on the weekends. This really helps me balance my academic and social life!
