What makes UON unique?
UON to me in comparison to most universities is so different and for so many reasons, ranging from lecture class sizes, opportunities for placements and much more.
What makes it different?
There are differences from both personal and a non-personal view, the modern campus having good classroom sizes, on-site catering facilities in multiple locations around campus, and the way the whole campus makes you feel something many other universities do not.
The University of Northampton academically gives students so much in terms of tangible benefits such as dedicated specialist areas for media or medical students, to placement opportunities (sometimes abroad or a full placement year), to the academic support staff like ASSIST.
Even in a non-academic environment, the university gives plenty of opportunities to socialise as well such as giving students the chance to attend events either for free or at a cheaper price than other universities.
Why being modern is important
One of the main things the university prides itself on, and rightly so, is their commitment to inclusivity and also to sustainable practices. Both of which are important to me, and make me think that UON is different compared to other universities I had looked at when I was applying for university back in 2023.
In a personal view
My student experience has been heightened with the fact that I am able to move around campus compared to other universities which would have limited me. The fact that ASSIST existed was also a key selling point for me, giving a focal point towards UON compared to other universities – both of these, in my opinion, made Northampton so different and so unique.
The quality of lecturing and high levels of employability are both reasons why I think UON is so different. The lecturers actually care about supporting and teaching their students and the high levels of employability feels like a testament to how great UON is.
