CADE Roadshow 2025 – Dr Kardi Somerfield
Date 28 November 2025
28.11.2025The CADE Roadshow: research stories from the University of Northampton - Dr Kardi Somerfield talks about her research into and her passion for digital marketing and social media.

Over the summer conference season, Dr Emma Whewell and Dr Helen Caldwell went out and about with TJ filming and recording the research events at UON. This is the first in a series of podcast vlogs that discuss the stories and motivations behind research. The CADE roadshow takes a reflective look at the stories behind research, the motivations, challenges and successes of researching. Often the journey is missed when reflecting on research as the outputs from research are prioritised. This initiative takes a journey with the people in the process with an aim to offer a realistic and gritty view of researching with technology.
Dr Kardi Somerfield talks about her research in this opening edition of a series of podcasts that discusses her passion for digital marketing and social media. She discusses her Masters thesis and how this work has informed her doctoral work, the use of images in social media and how this might impact social media posting and reposting.

Dr Emma Whewell is an Associate Professor in Learning and Teaching in the Faculty of Education, Arts, Science and Technology (FEAST).
