The cost of living impact

The cost-of-living crisis has had an impact on the majority of university students over the last few years. For many students, leaving home has meant that you have to become completely financially independent, from having to pay for rent as well as basic necessities such as groceries.

I have also found that whilst being at university, it has been a struggle to find a job. Being given opportunities from the university to have employment has had a huge impact on my student life, and has helped me financially.

An alternative to traditional student jobs

One of my passions is to create content, which I do in my spare time, so being able to do this for the university and therefore being paid to do something that I love is a huge bonus.

Previously I have worked in retail during my university experience, and there is a large pressure on earning as much money as possible,  which led to me become overworked and I couldn’t find a balance between my work and my studies. The student influencer role is designed to help me put my degree first and gives me the freedom to earn money without compromising my education.

Flexibility

The main reason as to why I believe that this job has had such an impact on my student life is due to its flexibility. Having a normal job as a university student has its downsides which I have personally experienced, as it does not always allow for you to be flexible. However, being a student influencer has allowed for me to make money alongside my studies. It allows for me to make content around my academic schedule as well as being able to use my student experiences to create this content.

Becoming a student influencer has not just helped me gain valuable skills for the future, but has also helped support me financially during a time in which living is not cheap, and has allowed for me to cope with the cost-of-living crisis.
