Save the date for our Black History Month conference

Date 21.09.2021

The University of Northampton will be hosting its second annual conference to mark Black History Month, in October.

Black in the Ivory 2, which takes place on Wednesday 20 October, aims to recognise and celebrate the experience of people of colour.

It has been organised by the University’s Global Ethnic Majority (GEM) network. The network – which is independent of the University – holds a number of functions, including offering commentary about policy, consulting on GEM measures that will impact on staff and also provides advocacy work.

Head of the Race Equality Charter at AdvanceHE, Dr Arun Verma, will be the keynote speaker for the opening session for the conference.

Details of the paper presentation session and the conference-closing GEM Award celebration will be announced next week.

Black in the Ivory 2 will run from 1pm to 7pm on Wednesday 20 October, and will be both a physical and virtual event, to allow as many people as possible to attend.
