Journalism students to benefit as University of Northampton strengthens European ties

Journalism students will have the opportunity to work on international projects with their European peers after the University of Northampton secured membership of a training association.

Northampton is one of just a handful of UK Higher Education institutions to be recognised by the European Journalism Training Association.

Membership of the association will open up opportunities for undergraduates studying Multimedia Journalism to work on projects with students from mainland Europe. The University’s Journalism department will also work in close collaboration with other universities across Europe, creating high standards of journalism education and working on research into the importance of high-quality journalism to democratic societies.

Matt Walsh, Head of Journalism at the University of Northampton, said: “We are delighted to become one of the select few British universities to take on membership of the European Journalism Training Association.

“It’s vital that we maintain our ability to work together with our European colleagues on public interest journalism projects, especially when there are tough questions being asked about Britain’s future in Europe.”
