The University of Northampton is committed to helping students get more than just a good degree. We offer a unique education experience taught using a variety of methods, in innovative facilities and give all students the chance to get involved in a wide range of initiatives and opportunities to improve their employability.

There are a wide range of courses available to suit all types of students including foundation degrees, higher national diplomas (HNDs), undergraduate degrees (BA or BSc), postgraduate (MA or MSc), research degrees, professional qualifications, short courses and corporate training programmes. We are committed to enabling flexible study to ensure our students get the best learning experience whilst at the University of Northampton.

All students have the opportunity to work in a social enterprise alongside their programme of study. This allows all students (irrespective of their chosen specialism) to develop new entrepreneurial skills and competencies to further enhance their employability.

Teaching excellence

The University of Northampton has always prided itself on its teaching excellence and this has been recognised repeatedly in the UK National Teaching Awards. Experts in their field and actively involved in research, many of our academic staff members are also professional consultants, working within the UK and internationally for private companies, voluntary and charitable organisations, as well as for local and national government departments.

One main focus is on developing students to think and work independently, teaching them how to research and source information, analyse and question ideas, think creatively and construct logical arguments based on evidence, to support conclusions. Above all, we ensure that students learn how to apply their knowledge and solve problems in the real world. Students will have the opportunity to work in groups, deliver presentations, conduct research, write reports, use case studies, develop communication skills and exchange ideas and experiences with other students from a variety of backgrounds and countries.

Student satisfaction

In 2015, The University of Northampton’s overall student satisfaction rate was 86% in the National Student Survey (NSS). In addition, our students were 88% satisfied with the teaching on their course, with 91% of students believing that staff are good at explaining things (Source: National Student Survey 2015).
