Health and Social Care Practice BA Welcome Pack

Welcome to the BA (Hons) in Health and Social Care Practice

We look forward to meeting you next Monday at Welcome week.

During the first Semester you will be learning about the skills you need to study at University.  We will be looking at Contemporary issues, mental well-being and you will be taking part in our global community.  The Global Community is the chance to explore issues which have a world-wide impact and to network with other students and professionals in the field of Health and Social Care.

Your Programme lead

Christine Collymore

Your lecturers for the first semester will be Elizabeth Sear, Karen Brasher, Christine Collymore and Genna Whitlock.

We are really looking forward to working with you.

Pre-work

In preparation for your start at University I would ask you to keep -up-to-date with the news and issues around Health and Social Care.

  • Sites that you might find helpful are NHS website, World Health Organisation, OXFAM and news sites.

    Also consider the following

    • Which groups and communities do you belong to and which ones would you like to belong to at University?
    • What do you most want to achieve by coming to University?
    • What does it mean to you to be part of the University Community?
    • Which three things will challenge you most about being at University?

These questions will be discussed in Welcome Week and it is up to you what you choose to share during sessions. The pre-work should take around 30 minutes.
