Electronics and Computer Engineering BEng (Hons) Welcome Pack

Welcome to Electronics and Computer Engineering BEng – September 2026.

Welcome to the BEng Electronics and Computer Engineering course. I am delighted that you have chosen to join us, and I look forward to supporting you as you begin this exciting journey.

Over the coming years, you will explore the fascinating world of electronics and computing, developing the knowledge and practical skills needed to create the technologies that shape modern life. From your first semester, you will combine theory with hands-on experience, using industry-standard tools to design, build, test, and programme real engineering systems.

Our course is built around problem-solving and innovation. You will work on projects that challenge you to think creatively, collaborate with others, and apply your learning to real-world engineering problems. As you progress, you will gain expertise in both hardware and software, discovering how they work together to power everything from smart devices to advanced embedded systems.

Beyond technical knowledge, you will develop the mindset of an engineer: curious, analytical, and resilient. These qualities, together with the practical experience you gain, will prepare you for a wide range of rewarding careers in electronics, computing, and emerging technologies.

Engineering is about making a difference. Whether you are designing sustainable solutions, developing intelligent systems, or creating the next generation of connected devices, the skills you gain here will enable you to have a real impact.

I am excited to see what you will achieve during your time with us. Welcome to the course, and best wishes for a rewarding and successful journey.
