Our MSc Advancing Practice award supports the advancement of healthcare professionals practice by developing, knowledge, skills and understanding to challenge and innovate future practice. This award also offers an alternative route to individuals with an interest in Advanced Clinical Practice.

By challenging legal, professional, and ethical dilemmas you will develop advanced knowledge and skills to underpin safe and effective practice, supported by the application of complex decision making. You will benefit from a flexible route which builds and develops opportunity for advancing healthcare provision.

The MSc Advancing Practice programme is driven by rapidly developing health and social care developments at both regional and national level.

In recent years there has been a significant shift in professional boundaries between groups of health and social care professionals, and the need for educational programmes to support the growth of advanced level practice. The opportunity to learn inter-professionally; to undertake modules which embed advanced practice within both academic and practice learning; will facilitate the development and enhancement of proficiency for students who wish to develop advanced clinical practice.

The inclusion of a range of designated module enables you and your employer (if your studies are employer funded), to consider both the needs of your service and the specific learning needs you may have to advance your practice.  It also facilitates a flexible approach in developing knowledge and skills.

The uniqueness of this award enables students to select their own unique pathway from a range of designated modules. Attention should be drawn to the admissions criteria for some of these modules.
