The Leadership Foundation and the University of Northampton are delighted to announce that Professor Nick Petford, Vice Chancellor of the University of Northampton, will join the Leadership Foundation Board from today, 26 November 2014.
The Leadership Foundation’s Chief Executive, Alison Johns said: “It will be a privilege to work with Nick over the coming years; he brings a new dimension to the Leadership Foundation Board. Nick’s particular focus on Higher Education Procurement and the role HEIs have to play in fostering positive social impact and social innovation within their communities will be a strong addition to the Board.”
Speaking on his appointment, Nick Petford said: “I am delighted to join the Leadership Foundation Board. Higher Education in the UK is facing a challenging period, strong leadership and innovative thinking are critical to the success of the sector, without this, we will be ill prepared to adapt and thrive for the future. I look forward to building new relationships with Leadership Foundation colleagues, members, and professional networks. The Higher Education sector is fast becoming a dynamic force for change, we have an exciting time ahead and I’m pleased to be a part of this.”
Since joining the University of Northampton four years ago, Nick Petford has energised the development of the University; as it became the first UK university to be awarded the accolade of ‘Changemaker Campus’ by Ashoka U, the world’s leading network of social entrepreneurs, recognising its commitment to social enterprise. Nick’s leadership has achieved notable successes; including securing a top 50 ranking in the Guardian University Guide, as well as securing the development of the £330 million new Waterside Campus.”
The Leadership Foundation is committed to developing and improving the management and leadership skills of existing and future leaders of Higher Education. Wherever the opportunity arises the Leadership Foundation works in partnership with a range of organisations within and outside of Higher Education for the benefit of the sector.
