The University of Northampton’s partnership with China’s Nanyang Institute of Technology (NIT) recently expanded with its first intake of students on to the BEng Electromechanical Engineering programme.

During a visit in late April arranged and support by University of Northampton Senior Lecturer and partnership manager, Dr Huijuan Su, the inaugural intake of 120 students on to the 2+2 programme was taught by staff from the University’s department of Engineering and Technology.

Dr Jonathan Adams, Head of Engineering and Technology, said: “During the visit I had the pleasure of teaching 120 exceptionally motivated and applied engineering students and very much look forward to welcoming them to complete their degree in Northampton shortly.”

The partnership involves regular visits to develop and support the students’ transition to studying at the University of Northampton.

NIT has recently secured local government approval to further expand the partnership to include the BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. It is anticipated that full government approval will be secured in time for a September 2015 intake to this programme.
