‘To be transformed into the person I want to be’ – The new 30-second film advert for the University of Northampton recruitment campaign for 2016/17 is now airing in 221 cinema screens across the East Midlands until 18 December.
The advert, created to motivate prospective students to attend a University of Northampton open day, showcases three of our academic disciplines and celebrates how the University supports students to achieve the best of their potential.
Gabby Taylor, a second year student currently studying Fashion said: “Having the chance to star in the University advertising campaign was great. I’m currently studying Fashion and we get lots of opportunities through the course to work with industry. I thought it would be interesting to get a behind the scenes look at how TV adverts are made and hopefully in the future, my designs will feature in their own TV adverts.
“Deciding to go to university is a big step; the difference between studying for A-levels at school and university life was quite different, but the staff have been really supportive, they help you stay motivated when you need it. I’m lucky that my course tutors have excellent industry connections and they make sure we have opportunities to network with influential industry figures.”
Mike Williams, Assistant Director for Marketing and Market Research said: “Feedback from the Fresher’s survey and National Student Satisfaction survey highlights that our students feel we are an open, friendly and supportive University, who will do all we can to help students achieve their potential, academically and personally.
“This advert will act as a call to action – an invitation to attend one of our open days – we know that of those prospective students who attend an open day, and complete the feedback survey, we see an overall satisfaction rate of 86 per cent. That just shows the power of welcoming students on to campus to experience what is it like to study, live and be supported to work here at the University of Northampton.”
The cinema advert will be supported by billboard adverts at London Euston train station, online ‘pay per click’ advertising, targeted school specific digital advertising, and traditional print advertising across our target media. The advert was supported behind the scenes by local hairdressers, Hensmans, who provided the hair and makeup for the two day shoot. Hensmans have a long history supporting the Fashion courses, providing styling for Graduate Fashion Week and key photoshoots across the academic year.
