UN opens its doors for MA show!

Date 12.11.2015

The University of Northampton has opened its doors for special postgraduate shows, featuring the work of its MA Fine Art and MA Design students.

The six-day exhibitions are open to the public and are an excellent opportunity for new, current and prospective students to see what is achieved though the postgraduate courses.

Visitors to the MA Fine Art exhibition will have the opportunity to view exceptional works by nine graduating students, who have all completed their Master’s. The students’ work features a variety of mediums, including painting, drawing, textiles and digital media, influenced by themes including the tensions between the familiar and unfamiliar, war and the dynamic energy between the sky and sea.

Dr Craig Staff, MA Fine Art Course Leader and Reader in Fine Art, commented: “The MA Fine Art Show is the culmination of the students’ engagement with the course. It is a very significant moment and is testimony to the industry, creativity and innovation that the students have brought to their respective practices since embarking on the course. This year’s exhibition is no exception and showcases a compelling selection of artworks that encompass a breadth of different materials, ideas and approaches.”

The MA Design Show features installations by Spatial Innovation, Graphics, Footwear and Fashion Marketing by MA Design students.

Emmeline Child, Senior Lecturer commented: “The MA Design Show is the culmination of the student’s engagement with the course, at this mid-reflection point. Showing work in progress will lead to final collections to be showcased later in the year.”

The shows will be held in the Walgrave building and will be open daily between 10am to 4pm.
