Student fashion show inspired by gender equality to take place in Northampton

Date 1.04.2016

Fashion Marketing students at the University of Northampton are hosting a fashion show to raise awareness for sustainable and ethical fashion aimed at all genders.

Taking place on Thursday 14 April at the Grosvenor Casino in Northampton, the U&I Fashion Show has been inspired by gender equality in today’s society and will heavily feature unisex fashion. The second year students are also raising money for the University’s third year Fashion students’ catwalk show at this year’s Graduate Fashion Week in June.

Student Joy Zizinga said: “The main aim of the fashion show is to raise awareness for sustainability and ethical fashion as well as promoting unisex fashion as it is becoming a very relevant trend in today’s society with issues arising around gender equality and transgender individuals becoming more open. Gender is becoming more identical and people can no longer be defined by merely their race or sex thus forming the source of inspiration.”

The show has been organised in conjunction with Swishing a UK; an all-in-one- clothing exchange swap shop and retail boutique that targets 16 to 60 year-old woman. General tickets are £3, with VIP tickets priced at £5 and doors open at 6:30pm.
