The University of Northampton welcomed students, graduates, employers and industry partners to this year’s Merged Futures, delivering another successful showcase of innovation, collaboration and career opportunity.
Held at its Waterside Campus in partnership with Digital Northants, Merged Futures 8 brought together businesses, entrepreneurs, academics and students to explore the future of work, technology and enterprise.
The event provided a vibrant platform for networking, knowledge exchange and meaningful conversations, while highlighting the University’s commitment to developing highly skilled graduates ready to make an impact in the world around them.
Throughout the day, attendees engaged with expert speakers, interactive exhibits and employer showcases, gaining valuable insights into emerging trends and the evolving skills needed for the workplace of tomorrow. Students had the opportunity to connect directly with employers, discuss career pathways and demonstrate the knowledge and creativity they have developed during their studies.
The event also celebrated the strength of the University’s partnerships with regional and national organisations, reinforcing its role as a catalyst for innovation and economic growth across Northamptonshire and beyond.
Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with participants praising the quality of the speakers, the breadth of organisations represented and the opportunities to build new professional connections.

The University’s Head of Learning Technology, Rob Howe planned and executed the event jointly with representatives from West Northants Council to display one of the largest technology showcases in the Midlands.
“It was fantastic to see more than 340 people registered with around 250 turning up on one of the hottest days of the year to explore the future of work, technology and enterprise.
“Events like Merged Futures put the University of Northampton at the centre of research and knowledge exchange activities. It allows hundreds of people every year to visit our campus and make lasting connections, along with seeing in-person the latest technological innovations from our county – and beyond.”
The success of Merged Futures reflects the University of Northampton’s ongoing commitment to creating transformational experiences that connect learning with real-world opportunity. By fostering collaboration between students, employers and community partners, the event continues to strengthen the University’s reputation as a hub for innovation, employability and enterprise.
Planning is already underway for future Merged Futures events, building on this year’s momentum and continuing to create opportunities for students and industry to connect, collaborate and shape the future together.
