New radio boss calls for Northampton community to make itself heard – on the airwaves

Date 29.10.2019

The new manager of NLive radio in Northampton is urging the town’s community to get involved – and get themselves on the air.

Martin Steers has recently been appointed Station Manager of NLive, which is run in association with the University of Northampton and broadcasts across the town on 106.9 FM, online at nliveradio.com and on smart phones and smart speakers via the TuneIn app.

A locally focused community station, NLive exists for the people, communities and not-for-profit organisations of Northampton and Martin is keen to hear the voices of people living in the town on air, their stories, their issues and what’s going on in the area.

He said: “This is such a vibrant town, with many great events and activities happening all the time that we can shout about. We want to hear different voices on NLive, including news from community groups, new bands, businesses and the opinions of the people of Northampton.

“There’s also scope for people to come in and volunteer with NLive, to be presenters, producers, station assistants, and be community journalists for the station.”

Martin is also particularly keen for any podcasters in the town to get in touch.

He said: “We’d love to hear from podcasters in the area, as there may be scope to get them to come into the studio and talk about their work.

“We also have our studio facilities here which can be hired at great rates for the recording of podcasts and other spoken content.”

Broadcasting across the town on 106.9 FM also means NLive is well-placed to offer businesses advertising packages which have the potential to reach thousands of ears in Northampton.

Martin said: “We are keen to support small and local businesses, and can offer great-value advertising rates. And, by taking out advertising with us, they would, in turn, be supporting NLive, which can only operate thanks to our supporters and volunteers.”
