The School of Science and Technology has strong links with local businesses. Course content is relevant to industry and students benefit from opportunities for paid work placements and graduate employment.
Excellent facilities are also available on campus. The school is based within the newly refurbished Newton building which houses state-of-the-art computer facilities and NVision, an immersive three-dimensional modelling and visualisation centre.
The University's Science and Technology staff are engaged in a broad range of research activities. Students are taught cutting-edge theory and the department's strong relationships with industry partners, public sector organisations and research bodies feed new and exciting content back into courses.
The University of Northampton is committed to delivering a new student experience, underpinned by a culture of entrepreneurship, research and social enterprise. In delivering this aim, we will become the first university in the UK to integrate both teaching and research activities, in all degree disciplines, with social enterprise and aim to be the UK's number one university for social enterprise by 2015.
The social enterprise theme unites work carried out in all our Schools, and many of our Departments, and builds on our existing strengths in enterprise promotion, community interaction, regional engagement, widening participation, third sector partnership, student volunteering and employability.
