  • A Critical Study of Cultural Values and Lexical Borrowing among Algerian Students.

    The research will explore how Algerian students have incorporated lexical English borrowing in their uses of Algerian vernacular Arabic through online conversations and face to face interactions. Messaouda’s contribution is how borrowing from English into Arabic occurs through Algerian students’ social media sites and face to face interaction. Therefore, this project will seek to explore the underlying reasons for lexical borrowing in Algeria and to examine the importance of the new cultural values that these borrowings represent for Algerians.


  • Messaouda is a PhD student at the University of Northampton. Messaouda gained a Master’s degree (MA) in the field of Literature and Foreign Languages, in particular, Language Science and Bachelor of arts in English language, particularly, Linguistics from the department of English, L’arbi Ben M’hidi University, Oum El-Bouaghi in Algeria. Messaouda has always been interested in foreign languages and cultures.

    Messaouda’s study experiences has provided for a better understanding of what opportunities are available. Messaouda also worked as teacher of English in a private school.
