University English lecturer is one of only three nominees for the UK New Zealander of the Year Award 2014

Date 16.11.2015

An English lecturer from the University of Northampton is one of only three individuals to be nominated for the UK New Zealander of the Year Award 2014.

Dr Gerri Kimber was shortlisted due to her work promoting New Zealand culture in the UK and beyond. She specialises in the career of author Katherine Mansfield and is the Chair of the International Katherine Mansfield Society and Series Editor of the four volume Edinburgh Edition of the Collected Works of Katherine Mansfield.

Dr Kimber commented: “This is an immense and unexpected honour, following on from being asked to deliver the keynote speech at the Royal Commonwealth Society’s International Essay Prize Competition, held at the New Zealand High Commission last November. Whoever wins this prestigious award, it is a privilege to have been nominated.”

The winner will be announced by H.E. the Rt. Hon Sir Lockwood Smith, the New Zealand High Commissioner, at the New Zealand Society Waitangi Day Charity Dinner, which will be held at the Dorchester in London on Friday 7 February.
