Que Sera, Sera – students go to Wembley

Date 19.02.2019

BSc Accounting and Finance students got to see the inner financial workings of the home of the FA Cup Final and the England national football team – Wembley stadium.

A key part of the Financial Reporting module, the day comprised of unique workshops from Wembley’s Learning Zone team, students analysed the financial structure of one of the world’s most iconic stadiums.

As part of the experience, students explored behind-the scenes of the UK’s largest sports and music venue -taking them deep into the heart of the stadium.

The tour included the Dressing Rooms, the Press Conference Room, players’ tunnel and pitch side.

Dalbir Khangura, Senior Lecturer in Accounting & Finance, said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to enhance their understanding of the financial reporting practices within an iconic venue and industry. The workshop provided them with a stimulating environment in which they were able to engage and ask questions to appreciate the scope of the financial reporting practices.

“We have held similar trips in the past, for example at Old Trafford, the home of Manchester Utd, in Nov 2017, which was based on similar type of learning experience.”

Second year Accounting and Finance student, Sophiya, said: “The trip was awesome, although I am not a huge football fan, it has definitely made all my football fan friends back home jealous following my posts in Facebook”
