Get your ticket and head Straight to the Front Row

Date 22.01.2019

Registration is now open for the inaugural Straight to the Front Row: Investigating Contemporary Western Gay Male Cinema conference.

The two-day conference, which will take place 14-16 February, will showcase both independent and mainstream contemporary Western gay male cinema, and its many facets and iterations.

As part of the conference, there will be a special screening of God’s Own Country, alongside a Q&A with the film’s Producer Jack Tarling.  The conference includes two keynote speakers, Dr Andrew Moore from Manchester Metropolitan University and Professor Richard Dyer of Kings College London.

Anthony Stepniak- a PhD student, associate lecturer in film and media, and co-organiser of the conference said: “Straight to the front Row promises to be a thought provoking, relevant and research rich event. Western gay male cinema has started stepping into the mainstream in more ways than one and interrogation into this from an academic perspective is timely, I’m delighted to have been able to draw together so many interesting speakers. It’s an event not to be missed.”
