Advent window shows the start of something new with charity

Date 6.12.2019

The University highlighted its partnership with a local charity today after the unveiling of a ‘Living Advent Calendar’ window at Waterside campus.

NN Advent is a community scheme – organised by The Start of Something NN – in which local businesses, organisations, communities and people in Northampton decorate a window for each day in the run up to Christmas.

Marking the sixth day of the campaign, the University has given two corner windows of the ground floor of the Learning Hub, about its partnership with The Lewis Foundation.

The Foundation provide support and gifts to adults affected by cancer. Since 2016, they have donated more than 16,000 gifts to patients in Northampton.

Kate Robinson, Changemaker Hub Coordinator at the University, said: “We place working with our community at the heart of everything we do here at the University of Northampton. Taking part in NN Advent is a great opportunity to reflect how we engage in worthwhile community projects and for us to build new relationships, such as with The Lewis Foundation.”

Lorraine Lewis, Founder and CEO of The Lewis Foundation, added: “It’s great to start working with the University, to further promote the work that we do, how we support families in the town and to bring about opportunities for students who want to volunteer with us.”
