Accreditation gives a career boost to UON Sport Management and Leadership graduates

Date 27.03.2024

A leading professional body’s accreditation of the University of Northampton’s Sport Management and Leadership degree has given a massive boost to the employment credentials of future graduates.

Not only does the accreditation by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) provide students with the assurance their degree offers the highest standards in management and leadership excellence, but it also allows them to pursue careers with companies who only accept graduates from accredited degree programmes.

The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) is the only chartered professional body in the UK dedicated to promoting the highest standards in management and leadership. It is the only organisation awarding Chartered Manager status, the hallmark of any professional manager, and encompasses a membership community.

Through receiving the accreditation, the University’s course will also equip graduates with a CMI Level Five Certificate in Management and Leadership – an additional qualification to their Bachelors degree – as well as a complimentary student membership to CMI, which provides access to a range of resources.

“We are delighted with the accreditation, which recognises the exceptional course we offer here at the University of Northampton,” said Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader for Sport Management and Leadership, Dr Stacie Gray.

“CMI has been proven to improve their employability upon graduation according to their latest data, and we’re excited for our students to start reaping the benefits of these enhanced employability skills when they graduate.

“The accreditation gives our students an advantage as they enter the sports industry, and opens up a route to employment with some of the very best companies within the UK and beyond.
