Staff Profile

  • Jodie is a Director of a social enterprise (Free 2 Talk CIC) delivering Youth Work; Parenting and Counselling with disadvantaged communities in Northamptonshire. Jodie has been teaching in Higher Education for over 8 years at University of Northampton and Derby. Before joining Higher Education she led training for Northamptonshire County Council and delivered lectures and placement. Jodie’s research experience has utilised a range of methods in a variety of interests.

    Jodie has worked in the Youth, Community and Social Care field for over twenty years within a range of settings with young people and adults. Experience working in Local Authority and the Community and Voluntary sector includes work with disadvantaged complex young people and their families. Practice experience spans a breadth of youth and community activity such as informal education, mentoring, participation, advocacy, family and parenting support. Achievements include development of countywide youth charters; systems to uphold the rights of young offenders; and multi-agency guidance in person centred planning. Jodie has experience in leading and developing district multi agency teams; co-ordinating Early Help Forums; managing and motivating integrated support development within integrated targeted children and families’ services. She currently leads a Home Office pilot tackling child exploitation through trusted relationships.

  • Jodie teaches on BA (Hons) Social Care and Community Practice and MA Youth & Community Leadership with JNC. Areas of teaching include psychology, sociology, social policy, social change, anti-oppressive practice, principled youth & community work, contemporary issues and work based learning. She coordinates placements for students on the Professional JNC in Youth & Community Leadership.
