Waterside Campus Master plan

The University of Northampton has submitted a further detailed application to the Planning Committee of Northampton Borough Council, in respect to student accommodation at its Waterside Campus development.

The University application details a mixture of student accommodation styles for up to 1,200 students, including five-storey flats and four-storey townhouses with landscaped courtyards. The residential zone of the campus will be located adjacent to the new learning and teaching buildings, and will incorporate a variety of additional facilities for access by the community including a small teaching hotel, health centre, multi-faith chaplaincy, bank and convenience store.

Vice Chancellor, Nick Petford said: “We are committed to offering students an excellent experience at the University of Northampton and this includes providing a selection of high quality student residences. The development of the Waterside Campus will allow students to live and study in Northampton town centre, in outstanding facilities that are shared with the local community.”

Cllr Mary Markham, Leader of Northampton Borough Council, said: “The University of Northampton plans are moving forward at a real pace now and their move to a new state-of-the-art campus in the centre of Northampton will give a massive boost to the Enterprise Zone programme of regeneration that is taking the town into the future and will support the ambitions of businesses in Northampton that need to attract talent and to operate on a global level.”

The residences scheme received outline planning permission in September 2014.  The current reserved matters planning application is available to view on the Northampton Borough Council website by searching for application N/2015/1040.
