Here you can find some outline information about what to expect at the interview or audition stage of the application process if you have applied for one of our interviewing or auditioning Performing Arts and Design courses. Full details will be emailed to you in your invite.

  • Where will my audition take place?

    Your audition will take place face-to-face, this is the best way for us to get to know you and for you to get to know us. Register at the Innovation Centre which is located opposite Northampton Train Station. Please attend in loose fitting clothing suitable for movement.

    Dates are limited so if you need to reschedule, please contact us as early as possible. If you cant attend face to face, we may be able to offer a virtual audition.

    How long will my audition take?

    Your audition will last approximately four to six hours and will include some workshops, a performance, an interview, and time to chat with current students and academics about the course.

    Is there any preparation work to do before my audition?

    In preparation for your audition, you will need to memorise two speeches by heart. Please refer to your audition invite emails for details of what these speeches should be.

    What should I bring with me to my audition?

    You will need bring a recent passport sized photo with you to your audition and a form of photographic ID.

    Your interview will last approximately 30 minutes.

    Is there any preparation work to do before my interview?

    Virtual interviews will take place online using a platform called Blackboard Collaborate. You will need a device with video capability to participate. Our Fashion team will email you a Blackboard Collaborate link to join your interview before the day.

    How long will my interview take?

    For face-to-face interviews, your interview will last between two and three hours but you will be on campus for longer than this as you will need to register etc. You will be able to see the course facilities and meet fellow applicants during this time.

    For virtual interviews, your interview will last approximately 30 minutes.

    Is there any preparation work to do before my interview?

    You will need to prepare a portfolio to share at your interview, make sure there are at least three examples of your best work. Please refer to your interview invite email for the portfolio requirements.

    What should I do on my interview day?

  • Where will my interview take place?

    Your interview will take place on an online platform called NILE. You will need a device with video capability to participate. Your interview invite email will detail how to access the NILE platform. Our Fine Art team will email you a link to join your interview about one week before your interview day.

    Is there any preparation work to do before my interview?

    No later than one week before your interview, please email a PDF digital portfolio which includes between 10 – 20 examples of your best work. Please refer to your interview invite email for the digital portfolio requirements.

    Is there any preparation work to do before my interview?

    You will need to prepare a portfolio of your work, containing around 10 pieces of work. Please refer to your interview invite email for the portfolio requirements.

    For face-to-face interviews this should be presented in an A3 or A2 folder. You can also show digital work.

    For virtual interviews this should be a digital portfolio and should be emailed no later than one week before your interview to graphiccomm@northampton.ac.uk.

  • Where will my interview take place?

    Your interview will last approximately 30 minutes.

    Is there any preparation work to do before my interview?

    Please email a PDF digital portfolio of approximately 5 to 10 images of your work to photography@northampton.ac.uk, no later than one week before your interview.

    The digital portfolio must include examples of your visual research/journal work, and a short piece of writing on photography or other lens-based mediums (essay, contextual report, exhibition review, etc). This will give us some insight into how you write formally, and your familiarity with key texts. There is no minimum or maximum word count for this, and a piece of school/college coursework is fine.

    Please email a PDF digital portfolio of up to 12 pages, comprising three to five pieces of your design work to productdesign@northampton.ac.uk, no later than one week before your interview.

    Not all of the examples included in your PDF portfolio need to be completed pieces, so you can include works in progress, we’re looking to see your ideas and experimentation, as well as some finished work.
