This course is designed to enable holders of HND/FdA Travel and Tourism Management qualifications (or similar UK and international qualifications) to gain a full honours degree in one year. Our International Tourism Management Top-up is accredited by the Tourism Management Institute (TMI) and the Tourism Society, the professional bodies for tourism management in the UK.

Opportunities Abroad

In previous years students have participated in at least one optional study trip to a European destination. The cost of optional trips would not normally exceed £500 for flights and accommodation. You may need to allow an additional £100 for your expenses on the trip.

The teaching team also aims to provide a regional or national study trip annually to a tourism attraction or similar destination. In some cases you will be required to contribute to the cost of entry; this would normally not exceed £50.00

The international and tourism industry is a dynamic, changing sector and as a graduate from this course you will be equipped with the creative tourism management skills and knowledge to allow you to adapt and be successful in this diverse business environment. The travel and tourism industry supports about 200m jobs worldwide, or every twelfth worker. The international and tourism industry offers you the chance to thrive in a world of opportunities.

Students experience Lisbon at their leisure

For most students, it’s not often you get given an exclusive guided tour of one of Europe’s most exciting cities.

When the opportunity fell to our Tourism and Event Management students to spend a week touring the historical landmarks of Lisbon, they jumped at the chance.

Ondraela Gjini, final year BA International Tourism Management top up student, said: “I have really enjoyed the Lisbon trip. It has been an invaluable experience to learn more about tourism and events in another culture and from a completely different perspective.” Read the full story.

Lauren Deegan

Lauren’s career has got off to a flying start after the University of Northampton graduate secured a job at an international airport.

Shortly after graduating from her International Tourism Management course, Lauren was appointed PR Assistant within the busy public relations department at Belfast International Airport, in her native Northern Ireland.

Entry Requirements

If you hold a HND/FdA Tourism Management or equivalent qualification then you will be eligible to apply for this course. We welcome international students that have an equivalent Diploma/degree and English Language equivalent grade 6 IELTS.

If you have completed the ATHE Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism you will be able to progress onto our BA Hons (Top-up).

  • IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5.5 in all bands
