IMechE accreditation

This course is accredited by IMechE, which means that you will meet the academic requirements for registration as an Incorporated Engineer, putting you in great stead to gain experience in industry and subsequently achieve professional engineering status.

Course Details

In your second year you have the chance to do an optional industrial placement with your employer if you have one, an independently sourced placement or a paid placement through the Northants Engineering Training Partnership (NETP).

  • Minimum standard – IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent)
    for study at undergraduate level.

Albert Hewson

Engineering student, Albert Hewson, has had a number of work placements, including 13 months at engineering company Cummins, as part of the Northants Engineering Training Partnership (NETP). As well as completing his degree, he is also working for a government department as a Manufacturing Engineer.

“My degree, along with my work experience, has equipped me with a good grounding to enable me to apply for positions within the engineering industry. I’m fortunate that the company I currently work for are dedicated to training and personal development. Once I have completed my degree, I plan to take on Six Sigma Green Belt training with the Institution of Engineering and Technology.

“The NETP element has been hugely important for me and in my opinion is an outstanding aspect of the course.”

Maria Steffy

Engineering student Maria Steffy has undertaken a work placement at Bearward Engineering, as part of this she also had the opportunity to attend a 10-day project visit to India, which she considers to be a milestone in her career so far.

“The experience I have gained during my work placement has given me the subject knowledge and practical skills I need for my career in the future. I really enjoyed the international trip as it was something much more high level than a placement student can usually expect to participate in. I was proud that the company had the confidence in me to represent them internationally.

Full Time: £9,250
Part Time: £1,350 per 20 credit module
Foundation: £6,500 as part of a four year programme (subsequent years will be charged at standard BSc rate)

Our Foundation Framework courses provide the best possible preparation for degree level study for students who are willing to learn and advance, but don’t have the standard entry qualifications. Featuring a reduced tuition fee for the first year, these course provide the opportunity for you to successfully study on the degree pathway of your choice whilst gaining essential study skills. The first year of your chosen degree will be studied over a two year period; years three and four are then studied as a standard degree programme.
