The Systems pathway of Business Computing explores design, technological development, management and commercial issues. You will be able to learn a range of development tools including SQL, php and java. Technological advancement has an impact on every part of business and as more software and hardware is introduced, the need for skilled IT professionals is greater than ever. This course will give you those skills, opening up careers in systems analysis, programming, databases and management.

Whatever your ambitions, we’re here to help you to achieve them. We’ll support you to identify the skills you’re learning during your course, find your strengths and secure practical experience so that when it comes to applying for jobs or further study you’ll feel confident in standing out from the crowd. This course shares a common first year with other Business Computing pathways, with flexible progression into the second year, so that you tailor your second and third years to a different subject specialism to suit your career aspirations or interests.

On successful completion of this course, you can progress to top-up your credits to a full BSc Honours degree.

Entry Requirements

For the HND, one A-Level entry is permitted. A typical offer for the HND would be around DEE at A-Level or MPP at BTEC.

English Language Requirements

All International and EU students applying for a course with us must meet the following minimum English language requirements:

  • IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5.5 in all bands
    for study at undergraduate level.

Course Content

During the first year you will focus on the essentials of implementing business computing systems, including aspects of design, analysis, development and information management.

These modules ensure that you understand current principles and practice while acquiring the knowledge and skills you need to study at degree level.
