Awards

To be eligible for the award of MSc Business Analytics, you must successfully complete 120 credits and the 60 credit Dissertation.

To be eligible for the award of PG Dip Business Analytics, you must successfully complete 120 credits.

To be eligible for the award of PG Cert Business Analytics, you must complete the following three 20-credit modules: Applied Systems Analysis, Strategic Management of Information Systems, and Information Systems Methods.

Course Details

The MSc Business Analytics will equip you with the quantitative skills needed to understand and engage with complex data as well as the analytical tools to drive business advantage. You will have opportunities to deepen your knowledge of business analytics, decision-making within given contexts, business and systems analysis, and management consultancy with a view to using that knowledge to improve the decision-making process in business.

Our MSc Business Analytics will enable you to study fundamental business subjects as well as specialist analytical modules, which will make you more employable within the growing number of organisations that are using most of the tools and techniques incorporated within Business Analytics. The skills and knowledge you will develop would be transferable to a variety of industries, such as oil and gas, engineering, IT, healthcare, public sector and logistics, and businesses.   • Minimum standard – IELTS 6.5 (or equivalent)
    for study at postgraduate level.

Entry Requirements

If you hold a recognised first or second class honours degree (or equivalent) you will be eligible to apply for this course. If you have relevant work experience and related professional qualifications you will also be considered on an individual basis.

This course will be useful if you are a professional employed in business and/or technology sectors and wish to progress in your job by gaining a more specialist qualification. If you have a degree in Business, Management, Information Systems, or Information Technology related courses, you will be considered for entry to the programme. The course may also be very attractive to many international applicants.

Special Features

The MSc Business Analytics is available to study full-time or part-time, with start dates in January and September.

If you choose to study full-time, the course duration will be one year, split into three semesters. In the first semester you will study Strategic Management of Information Systems, Applied Systems Analysis, and Information Systems Methods. In the second semester you will study Fundamentals of Project Management, Business Intelligence, and Digital Twins and Internet of Things. At this stage you will also start your dissertation, which you will complete in the third semester. You will undertake the dissertation as self-study (with online support) and you will be allocated a supervisor who will guide and support you through this process. Meetings with your supervisor are not compulsory but are strongly recommended.

If you choose to study part-time, the course duration will be two years, and there will be flexibility over when you can study each of the modules.

Our graduate discount scheme is open to graduates of the University of Northampton who enrol on a full master’s programme with us in the year 2018/19.
