Matt Taberner – BSc Sport and Exercise Science
Success from Sport and Exercise
Matt Taberner graduated in 2006 from our BSc Sport and Exercise Science course. Before Matt attended the University of Northampton, he always knew that he wanted a career in professional sport, an ambition he certainly achieved. He now works at Everton FC as Head of Sport and Exercise Science, he comments:
“I am responsible for management and delivery of sports science services to the first-team squad. This includes the provision of fitness and strength and conditioning programmes, overseeing training load management including GPS monitoring and readiness to train, as well as end-stage rehabilitation.”
Matt travels the world and works alongside some of the top footballers in the Premier League. After graduating with a first class honours degree from the University of Northampton, Matt continued his studies and gained a Masters Degree in Sport and Exercise Nutrition.
“The University of Northampton gave me the underpinning base knowledge to progress to the next level of academic study. I hope to continue to develop my knowledge base and apply my experience in elite sport.”
