Johnson Jament – MA Education

Masters in Education

“It has always been my passion to work with children, young people, parents and teachers around the fishing communities in Trivandrum.

“I started my career as a teacher in India, then I realised that I did not have the necessary skills and experience of working with children with emotional and behavioural difficulties. This encouraged me to choose the University of Northampton as my higher education destination for my MA in Education and then my PhD study. I successfully completed both courses with genuine and passionate support from my tutors, supervisors and colleagues and friends within the University. Throughout the six years when I was studying at the University of Northampton, I was involved in a number of activities within the University and I realised that I was in the right place to build upon my dreams.

“On my return to India I started an NGO called Venad Education and Social Services, to promote inclusive educational activities in Trivandrum Fishing Communities. I am planning to start an Inclusive School in Trivandrum for girls, children from poorer backgrounds and children with disabilities and emotional and behavioural difficulties. It is my own personal interest to work with the fishing communities which I hailed from. I understand the educational challenges and poverty of these communities; therefore, I believe that my current activities will make a great contribution to society.”
