Bryony Rodda – BA (Hons) Fashion

Bryony has always dreamed about becoming a well-known fashion designer, so she was very vigilant when choosing a university to study a fashion course at.

“I chose to study BA (Hons) Fashion at the University of Northampton for a number of reasons, one of which was its perfect location. Northampton was close enough to my home, so that I could come back every now and again but still move away and have my own responsibilities and time to focus solely on my course.

“At the University’s Fashion Discovery Day I had a chance to experience practical activities that were similar to those on the course and met some of the academic tutors. This was really the deciding factor.”

Since starting her studies with us Bryony has never shied away from any extra opportunity that came her way.

“During my first year I completed a work placement at a sewing studio, working closely with the business owner. In my second year I was part of the athletics society which really helped me to keep focused when my course would get full on. It gave me something else to look forward to in the week. Coming up to my third year, I am now taking on a role within the Sustainable Fashion Society. I am very excited to join a society that is fun and has a good goal in mind. I look forward to making people more aware of their fashion choices through my volunteering activity. I have also become Fashion course rep in my second year and aim to carry this on.”

Bryony was also one of our three second year students shortlisted for the prestigious national industry award Project 20/20.

Talking about her course, Bryony said:

“Studying at the University of Northampton I have learnt so much about the fashion industry that it really opened my mind to what I could do and where I could go in my career. I believe my course has already helped my personal and professional development a lot. It has given me the skills and opportunities I would not have gained elsewhere.”
