Return to Practice Welcome Pack
Welcome to Return to Practice 2022.
Our Return to Professional Practice course is approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). It is a 20-credit level 6 course provided for all nurses and health visitors who are unable to meet the criteria for revalidation, and who are therefore required to undertake a Return to Practice programme before re-registering with the NMC.
The course is length is 4 – 6 months and comprises both theory and practice. Courses take place in September, February and May. Supervised practice is usually undertaken in an area related to previous experience and can be arranged in a variety of ways. You will have supernumerary status.
Currently there is a national campaign led by Health Education England to encourage nurses to return to practice, and funding is available to support students. For more information about financial, clinical and academic support available to any allied health professional wishing to take the Return to Practice course, please visit the Health Education England site.
The course team consists of Ros Wray (Course Leader), Mary Kitson (Senior Lecturer) and teaching staff who are field specific specialists who use their experience and knowledge to inform their teaching and personal tutor work. We would like to welcome you as you consider returning to your profession. The course enables nurses and health visitors to update past knowledge and skills within a supportive environment that facilitates your individual journey and encourages peer support.
