  • A Definitional framework for Social Value Creation: Perspectives of Private, Public and Third sectors in the UK

Since the implementation of the Social Value Act, public authorities need to consider social and environmental value, in addition to economic value, in public contracting processes. However, despite the significant attention by academics and policy-makers to social value creation, there remains a paucity of research that seeks to identify and quantify what constitutes social value (Emerson, 2013). There is an urgent need to develop a framework of social value that could be used by the private, public and third sectors to understand the impact of their actions and to shape future policy in relation to social value.
