Date 23.01.2017

UNIC students are celebrating after receiving their first ever set of college results.

The University of Northampton International College (UNIC) provides pathway options for international students seeking to access Higher Education. Students study Foundation, First Year or Pre-Master’s before progressing onto their chosen courses at the University.

The results showed that 91 percent of Foundation modules had a 93 percent pass rate or higher, an outstanding reflection of all the hard work and dedication of the students who joined the College in September.

Among those celebrating was Cassandra Hee, a Malaysian student progressing on to do Leather Technology at the University. She received an A grade in all four of her Science Foundation modules.

Cassandra commented: “I am delighted with my first set of UNIC grades. There is lots still to be done in the next semester but these results have helped me to believe I do have what it takes to be successful in my degree.”

Runwage Chihuri, Zimbabwe, also received an A in all of his Pre-Master’s modules. He will be going onto study the MBA.

He said: “UNIC has prepared me for my Master’s and receiving these grades has only inspired me to work even harder when I start with the University.”

Craig McIlwain, Acting College Director/Principal at UNIC, said: “As this was our first semester as a College I am delighted by the results. Not only do they demonstrate that we have a fantastic team of academic teaching staff but also how motivated and committed our students are to achieving outstanding results and progressing onto the University.

“At least 50 percent of the modules taught had a 100 percent pass rate which is a fantastic result and something we only want to increase going forward. I would like to congratulate all the students for their richly deserved success as a result of their hard work and commitment to their studies.”

The UNIC students who have been studying their Pre-Master’s will now join their chosen Master’s subjects at the University of Northampton and will the first set of UNIC students to make the transition.

Craig continued: “Seeing our students officially start their chosen courses at the University has been a very proud moment for the team. We wish the students all the best in their studies at the University of Northampton and their future careers. Our attention now turns to welcoming and supporting our new intake of students.”

Hastings McKenzie, Dean of Academic Partnerships at the University of Northampton, commented: “The University enjoys a very close working relationship with the College. This is a great set of results for UNIC and reflects upon the quality and commitment of both their staff and students.”
