Fashion Marketing students from the University of Northampton launch a pop-up shop in the town centre

Date 16.11.2015

Second year Fashion Marketing students from the University of Northampton have launched a pop-up shop in Market Walk next to Northampton’s Market Square in aid of Graduate Fashion Week.

Array is now open from Monday 24 to Saturday 29 March and will showcase and stock fashionable clothing, accessories and artwork created by the University’s students and local and national creative talents, providing shoppers with an eclectic mix of British manufactured brands and designers. The unique and quirky street style on offer in the shop will help raise funds to support the third year Fashion Marketing and Fashion students to attend Graduate Fashion Week in June, which will give them the opportunity to showcase their work.

The students held a fashion show to mark the opening of the shop, with the models using the escalators in Market Walk as their runway.

With support from Northampton Town Centre Bid, sponsorship by Café Coco, the students have several designers on board, including Amy Harris and Daisy Designs and will continue to liaise with other designers to provide a vast selection to their customers.

Emmeline Child, Senior Lecturer in Fashion, commented: “Practice based learning offers the students hands-on experience in the industry and this opportunity to run a pop-up shop in town is proving a rewarding experience. We thank all our sponsors and the overwhelming support we have received from this venture and look forward to welcoming everyone through the doors from the 24 March onwards.”

Sally Laurie, Course Leader for Fashion Marketing, commented: “The pop-up shop is a fantastic example of where the students are able to integrate their studies from the two disciplines of Fashion and Marketing. Their knowledge of retail merchandising, fashion trends and retail buyer behaviour is brought together in this exciting and challenging experience.”
